Coming to the Cross: The Foundation of Our Faith

At the heart of the Seventh-day Adventist message stands the cross of Jesus Christ.

Every Bible truth we cherish, every promise we claim, and every hope we hold for the future finds its meaning in Christ's sacrifice on Calvary. The cross reveals the character of God, demonstrates His immeasurable love for humanity, and provides the assurance of salvation to all who believe.

As Seventh-day Adventists, we understand that the great controversy between Christ and Satan reaches its decisive turning point at the cross. There, Jesus willingly gave His life for a fallen world, paying the penalty for sin and making a way for us to be reconciled to God.

The Cross Reveals God's Love

The cross is God's greatest demonstration of love.

John 3:16 reminds us:

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

When we look at Calvary, we see more than suffering. We see a Savior who chose to bear our sins so that we might receive forgiveness, restoration, and eternal life.

The Cross Calls Us to Surrender

Coming to the cross means more than simply acknowledging what Jesus did for us.

It means surrendering our lives completely to Him.

Christ invites us to place our burdens, fears, sins, and struggles at His feet and trust Him to lead us. Through daily surrender, prayer, Bible study, and obedience to His Word, we grow closer to the One who gave everything for us.

The Cross Points Us to the Heavenly Sanctuary

As Seventh-day Adventists, we understand that Christ's ministry did not end at Calvary.

After His resurrection and ascension, Jesus began His ministry as our High Priest in the heavenly sanctuary, interceding on behalf of His people.

Because of His sacrifice and ongoing ministry, we can approach God with confidence, knowing that we have an Advocate who understands our weaknesses and offers grace in our time of need.

The Cross Gives Us Hope for Christ's Return

The same Jesus who died on the cross, rose from the grave, and ministers in heaven today has promised to return for His people.

The cross assures us that God's plan of redemption will be completed. One day, sin, suffering, sickness, and death will be forever removed, and God's faithful children will live with Him throughout eternity.

This blessed hope is central to the Advent message and gives us courage as we navigate life's challenges.
